Even if you pay to have your piano tuned (ouch!), it will help you know a good one from a bad one. I have had my piano wrecked by a tuner, and then had to search the area (new location) to find someone that had a good reputation to fix what the other guy did. Embarassing, and expensive!Kits are available if you are adventurous, and the book is a great guide. Watch some youtube videos so you have a visual as well. You could take the instructions and probably build a piano from scratch. This would be a tuner's bible.I bought this to use as a manual for tuning my piano. The instructions were clear and precise. I had never tried to tune a piano myself, so I was nervous to know if I could accomplish it. The directions walked you through where to start and how to tune to the octave, intervals and chromatic.
