Xar is a mischievous Wizard Prince with no magic, but he's intent on getting some by stealing it from a witch - the worst magical creature to ever walk the Earth! And Wish is a Warrier Princess who is is weak, plain and kinda unusual. She found two enchanted objects that are forbidden, her mom has banned wizards, snowcats, sprites, and well, pretty much EVERYTHING magical! One day when the pair meet in the woods -- both having just seen a witch! -- ever. Predictable and easy read for late elementary to middle school readers. Liat2768 My sons loved the entire 'How to train your Dragon' series and when I saw that Cowell was beginning a completely new fantasy series with 'The Wizards of Once' I was sure they would be thrilled as well.My younger son humored his parent and read the book and tried to let me down gently. 'It's ok' he muttered 'but not my favorite!' he added hastily trying to encourage the batty parent while not encouraging a sudden supply of more books in the series. I was flabbergasted. Ms. Cowell as once again mastered the art of this in a riveting new novel/beginning of a new series that was a heck of a one-sit-read for me. In a wild flourish of creativity and adventure, she weaves a truly awesome tale that just may trump anything else she has written (and my household reads That Rabbit Belongs to Emily Brown at least weekly.)Set in the "British Isles before they knew they were the British Isles" (are you not already charmed?), this tells the tale of two yo

And Wish, daughter of the Warrior Queen, has a banned magical object of her own. But Xar, son of the King of Wizards, can't cast a single spell. In the first book of a new series by the internationally bestselling author of How to Train Your Dragon, the warring worlds of Wizards and Warriors collide in a thrilling and enchanting adventure. When they collide in the wildwood, on the trail of a deadly witch, it's the start of a grand adventure that just might change the fabric of their worlds. With Cressida Cowell's trademark
