Bonnie said good reference. It is an inspiring little book for the artist who wants to paint realism and hyper-realism. Don't think that you are getting a book with a lot of detailed analysis on the process of painting realism. It is plain and simple and a good reference.. Excellent book, but NOT for the beginner, intermediate on up is ok. MUST have basics down: form/composition/perspective/shadows This is an excellent book, but not for the beginner. Intermediate is ok but unless you have the basics down, including forms and perception wait until you get some more work under you belt. Definitely got some pointers but in the end we all create our own way of doing things.. "A little dissapointed." according to Gail. Book shows several photos (very nice photos) of each example while it is process of being created. However, I would have liked to have a more detailed description of HOW to draw these examples, i.e. what type and size pencils were used, etc. I'm just a little disappointed in the book.
