Increasingly, both majority culture congregations and minority pastors are seeking to labor together for the sake of the gospel in our racially divided communities. Even though Jesus destroyed the dividing wall of ethnic and racial hostility and created a whole new humanity of equal privilege and dignity, the pervasive nature of racialized patterns in the American evangelical church undermines the influence and impact of minorities in leadership. . My hope is that all pastors, regardless of color, will begin to gain biblical, historical, cultural, and practical insights from these pages for their own callings and make a lasting gospel difference.
