"A student's perspective on the book" according to Alec Thomas. As a student of Dr. Varner, I was required to write a reaction to the book for his Old Testament class. This is my reaction: Awake O Harp by Dr. William Varner provides many things which, in combination, make up a great devotional on the Psalms. The book provides hope while remaining honest in the history and themes in many of the Psalms. It does not shy away from addressing depressing or disorienting passages; it addresses them.
