The publisher is Taschen and there is a good showcase of modern typographic specimens by German foundries in the 2nd vol.*Please note that the 2 volumes cover western typography from 1628-1938 only. You would have to get other works to cover contemporary typographic designs and developments. Again, this set serve as a visual reference with rare, vintage samples rather than an academic tome with in depth scholarly essays and criticisms. I wish I knew before ordering, this specific version is two softcover books that are wrapped in a semi-hard sleeve. I plan to keep these as a treasure in my library, and would have spent more on the proper hardcover had I known. Otherwise, I 100% recommend this set.. "Five Stars" according to mchavez.
