Star Wars Universe My son LOVES all things Star Wars (among other movies franchises) I get depressed buying LEGOS and toy type gifts for Christmas birthdays etcsince I know in the long run the pieces will be lost and ultimately most will be sold for pennies on the dollar at a garage sale. I love the nice coffee table books that Lucas has added. They are beautifully photographed and well done in terms of contentHe loves to look through (and read!!) the books a. "Not just a treat for the eyes!" according to JS. The art by Ralph McQuarrie is brilliant and includes works new for this book as well as some classic original trilogy concept paintings. Surprisingly, the writing keeps pace with the visual elements. Stories of the principal planets from the original trilogy (Tatooine, Hoth, Dagobah, Bespin, Coruscant, and Alderaan) are told from the perspective of explorers, rebels, Imperials, and war protesters and I have been entertained during multiple . I like the other movies' production art but it's obvious that Miss Yes The Illustrated Star Wars book seems to be dominated by "Empire" and "Return" art. There are just not enough paintings and designs from Star Wars, Episode IV, proper. I like the other movies' production art but it's obvious that once Star Wars was a hit Lucas could afford much higher quality production paintings.
