DESCRIPTION:

Another masterpiece of science writing from Brian Greene Brian Greene's previous books are exemplars of what science writing should be: clear, wide-ranging in discussion and respectful of the intelligence of his audience. The Elegant Universe and The Fabric of the Cosmos are two of my three favorite popular science books. The third, Kip Thorne's Black Holes and Time Warps, is another superb example of science writing at its best. Now Brian Greene has added another masterpiece to. "Fascinating" according to WisGuy. While this book is purportedly about parallel universes, and it is, it is really a primer on cosmology. Greene covers from Einstein to quite recent developments. I am not a physicist, and yet I found The Hidden Reality fascinating. Unlike some of the other Amazon reviewers, I didn't find this to be a difficult read; just take it slowly, and you will be rewarded with a story that's more incredible than the best science fict. Insider said A Good Primer on Simulation. Dr Greene has written a book that deals with the multiverse and in particular, and the reason I bought the book,is he deals with the possibilities of us being in a SImulation. (Look out, Twilight Zone!) Chapter 10 deals with the concept of what is reality -- since all is filtered thru our brains/senses -- what are we not seeing, or how are we seeing whatever is there? A case in point is the movie Thirteenth Floor, as well

Everything. Or, perhaps strangest of all, a multiverse made purely of mathematics. Yet, in recent years discoveries in physics and cosmology have led a number of scientists to conclude that our universe may be one among many. There was a time when "universe" meant all there is. Greene, one of our foremost physicists and science writers, takes us on a captivating exploration of these parallel worlds and reveals how much of reality's true nature may be deeply hidden within them.. With crystal-clear prose and inspired use of analogy, Brian Greene shows how a range of different "multiverse" proposals emerges from theories developed to explain the most refined observations of both subatomic particles and the dark depths of space: a multiverse in which you have an infinite number of doppelgängers, each reading this sentence in a distant universe; a multiverse comprising a vast ocean of bubble universes, of which ours is but one; a multiverse that endlessly cycles through time, or one that might be hovering millimeters away yet remains invisible; another in which every possibility allowed by quantum physics is brought to life
