"Tedious reading at the start" according to R. McDaniel. After the introduction there followed a large bleak section of the story which was almost painful to wade through. It's a passable adaptation of an easily recognizable fairy tale, but certainly not compelling. Once Marina begins to collect local friends as potential help the story picks up. But I sympathize with those who couldn't get past the half way point. There is only so much evil one can take without some sort of confrontation or even small victories.
