You need to have an understanding of music theory before you pick this book up or be willing to learn some as you work through this. He immediately goes into modes with no explanation of mode theory. With that said, it will make you think and begin to explore the fingerboard like you never have. If you want to challenge your current level of playing and creativity, get this book. It will stay in my library with just a couple of other books and will be used the rest of my guitar playing days. I . I'm lukewarm about this book Few would disagree that the guitar is a difficult instrument to learn and master. Many people walk away from the guitar as soon as it starts to hurt their fingers. Many who make it past that stage still end up abandoning the guitar within 6 months to a year for various reasons usually relating to frustration and discouragement. I've been a guitarist for many years now and if there's one thing I've learned it's to keep things simple. The simpler the better really.
