A completely enjoyable fast read Amazon customer I don't know what book the negative reviewers read I had a ball with this book! I enjoyed most of the characters (especially the gargoyle) and had a whole lot of fun with this new take on urban fantasy. Alchemy is a nice change from all the werewolf and vampire books out now. I got the Audible narration for a few bucks extra and liked the narrator, too. And hey, recipes included! I gave the green smoothie a try and it was really good.I'm looking forward to reading more in this series. Please keep them coming!. "a treasurey of history to fiction" according to Franjipani. Wow! Lately I've been loving the gargoyle theme. They tie in so well with my own sculpture genre, threshold guardians. Hence, my attraction.That being said, I love the the manipulation of history to fiction that takes place. In addition, the main three characters were so well developed! I felt their hopes, desperation and fears right along with them. Much like I did with, The Never Ending Story as a young teenager. I adore the setting, Oregon, The heart of the community, a homey tea shop and the dilapidated fixer upper. I look forward, to more mas. A fun, quick read. Erin I love the concept, but I was disappointed with the execution. I felt the author set up an interesting mystery with the potential for something grand. As it went on; however, it devolved into a much simpler story that had me wondering if it really mattered that Zoe was an alchemist. While the historical information was interesting, very little alchemy happens in this book. As others mention, there is a lot of cooking. (There are even some recipes in the back.)
