DESCRIPTION:
This is a must read! It's fun and inspiring! C Parry The words of wisdom for all those who view the world not as someone tells you how things should be but how you observe and question the world around you. I can't wait for my daughter (this is her required summer reading book) and all who read this book, who loves science and the process of the scientific method to read this book. I hope Dr. Feynman's words inspire all to keep making observations, asking questions, seeking knowledge and experimenting with all it! I hope my daughter finds inspiration in Mr. Feynman's fun. "MUST READ" according to Ryan Fitzpatrick. I’m very glad I chose this book because it has opened my eyes to the sciences. This book was a series of short stories categorized in chronological order from Nobel Prize winning physicist, Richard Feynman’s life. He starts the book with a story about how he fixes a broken radio by just problem solving. Throughout the book Richard looks for ways to constantly learn, look for problems, and most importantly find for solutions. Later in the book Richard talks about how he was on a honeymoon with his second wif. a touch of devilishness and an enormous capacity for telling a good story - sometimes accurately Bought this for my son, and it's been just as enjoyable for him as it was for me when I read it in the late 1980's. Feynman was a true genius with a wicked sense of humor, a touch of devilishness and an enormous capacity for telling a good story - sometimes accurately.
This winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in physics tells his astonishing life story, a combustible mixture of high intelligence, unlimited curiosity, eternal skepticism, and raging chutzpah.
Feynman himself had all these qualities in spades, and they come through with vigor and verve in his no-bull prose. A series of anecdotes shouldn't by rights add up to an autobiography, but that's just one of the many pieces of received wisdom that Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman (1918-88) cheerfully ignores in his engagingly eccentric book, a bestseller ever since its initial publication in 1985. It's possible to enjoy Surely You're Joking, Mr. At some point, however, attentive readers realize that underneath all the merriment simmers a running commentary on what constitutes authentic knowledge: learning by understanding, not by rote; refusal to give up on seemingly insoluble problems; and total disrespect for fancy ideas that have no grounding in the real world. No wonder his students--and readers around the world
