Opening with a quick overview of the basics—such as exposure, focus, subject selection, and composition—the author then expands on each of these topics, showing the techniques pros use to achieve truly stunning images. Because both beginning and advanced underwater photographers can have equipment-related issues, a trouble-shooting section is included to ensure that minor equipment problems won’t ruin a costly dive trip.. Designed for photographers who already have strong diving skills and understand basic photographic techniques, this reference defines what advanced underwater photography is while teaching the skills necessary to create professional-quality images. The myriad equipment choices available when making this transition—including cameras, lenses, underwater housings, and the lighting units designed to be used with them—are explained, as are their respective advantages and shortcomings

This, which is called "Advanced" (rather than "A Beginner's Guide"), might sound intimidating, but it's written in the same comfortable style, and is accessible to people with some minimum background in SCUBA and photography. The tech-speak is minimal, and when used, is clearly explained. The first part of the book is a discussion of equipment (cameras, housings, strobes, and more). This is followed by a discussion imaging techniques, wh. Advanced Underwater Photography a must for underwater photographers Larry Gates' new book picks up where the Beginners Guide to Underwater Photography left off. This book goes into more detail about using a DSLR camera, different cameras, lenses, housings, and other equipment. He discusses techniques for getting good shots and for taking care of all that expensive gear. His writing style is fun and easy-to-read. Technical jargon is kept to a minimum and clearly explained when used. This is a photography how-to book for the person who has little experience, or for someone who has been photographin
