Very good illustrative samples and techniques It's not a thick book--I wish it was thicker because this artist's skills is phenomenal, especially his water and water reflection techniques. Each artist have their own expertise and for me, Mr. Dowden's water painting technique takes the prize. This book focuses on his developed methods to painting "water," not so much on equipments or tools like a beginner's book. This book is not for a beginner's--(but you lose nothing from having it)--book per se; it's very helpful for painters who want to paint water scenes better, differently, through different techniques, trying a different style, etc. I say this bo. It explains the techniques in a way which is both easy to follow and which makes sense. The problem for most aspiring water-colourists is the sheer volume of choices which have to be made, whether in the selection of paper, brushes, paint or techniques to use. Dowden manages to whittle these down to fundamentals so that the choices become manageable for those who are just in the process of developing their painting skills.
