Good, but there are better books A number of years ago my therapist had me read this while he was treating me for BPD and it was a huge eye-opener; I have read it several times.But now I see Masterson must have gotten his ideas from an almost forgotten psychoanalyst (to whom he gave no credit): Ronald Fairbairn.Although Fairbairn's ideas are having a noticeable impact on modern psychoanalytic thought, his work was not edited and is obscure and confusing.Thankfully, David P. Celani has written "Fairbairn's Object Relations Theory in the Clinical . Jesikah said Masterson had no clue. Masterson's approach to Borderline Personality Disorder was tainted by the fact that the man was a narcissist himself.
