Vickie Jo Lasley This was an enjoyable, fast-paced story about a young girl who is part elf and part human in a world where neither side would acknowledge her existence. One of the differences between elves and humans is that elven children grow very quickly -- so quickly that within the rest of the book, she grows to adulthood within the year. Her biological father, a human soldier, is sent off to war, and he leaves his 4-year-old daughter with the local Tinker. The Tinker is a very kind man who brings her into his home and tries. Fi said Hmmmmm. I didn't not like it but I didn't like like it either (double like intended). The character did not mature throughout the book even though she aged physically, the solutions to problems and issues were too easy, too perfect and worked too quickly (the adage of create your character, put them in a tree and throw rocks at them) did not really apply. Light and fluffy, not a challenging read.
