Toni Morrison's First Novel - Really Touching - Excellent This is an extremely well written first novel by Toni Morrison. It is a narrative about the life of a young African American girl. It involves the feelings that one develops about feeling like a second class citizen from one's earliest awareness. It seems to me like a fairly sophisticated and nuanced work for a first novel. I think I should add I also purchased the audiobook which was narrated by the author. The audiobook also includes an author's note at the end, explaining som. Pecola Breedlove, One of two children born to Cholly and Pauline Breedlove, lives a very depressing life. Her Father is alcoholic who is incapable of showing anything but hatred towards women, and her Mother Paulinewith so many dreams deferred, only finds solace when she is at work as a housekeeper.
