This is an excellent overview of the books of the Bible written in Dr. Peterson's plain easy to read style (he is the author of the Message Bible). It covers some background and world history behind each of the Bible books. It is NOT a deep theological book, nor is it intended to be. A good, informative, easy to read book.. Excellent overview of the Bible and suggestions for study If you are familiar with Eugene Peterson's The Message, then you understand that it is a modern translation of the Bible. In The Message, Peterson has written an introduction for each book of the Bible, explaining the historical context as well as how and why that specific book matters to us today. The Invitation is a compilat. Downloaded copy has print offset problems! Writing, so far, is good! Amazon.com, Can you help with this problem? The copy that I downloaded has what appears to be offset ink on some of the pages that I have read. It's quite difficult to read some of the words. For that reason, I've rating the book at 3 stars. I've only read the first chapter, but I love the writing, thus far, and feel that the
