Gift for my husband (who would like to be a Hobbit) AGF66 I checked this out of our local library for my husband thinking it was just an audio book but it's actually a recorded play. He loved it and often told other people about it. So at Christmas I looked online for a copy he could keep and found it on Amazon. I think it was his favorite gift this year.. "Vintage BBC drama" according to Ingrid. Tolkien's tale of the Hobbit was always one of my favourite books. I like this rendition very much, though it took some getting into liking the singing dwarves (that's the only part I feel is perhaps dated). The dramatization of Bilbo meeting Gollum is my favourite part, riveting stuff. This production is a full radio drama, and I recommend it to all Tolkien fans.. Willows This is a quality copy of the original BBC Radio program of The Hobbit, complete with fanciful music, a variety of actors playing the parts, and good sound effects. It draws you into Tolkien's delightful tale of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, as he and his accompanying group of dwarves (plus Gandalf of course!)encounter trolls, elves, giant spiders and the ferocious dragon Smaug and recover a treasure to boot! And it provides the (originally unintended by Tolkien) beginning of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, since here Bilbo comes across the One Ring and is nearly eaten by Gollum. All wonderfully rendere
