The Happiness Project

^ Read * The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin ✓ eBook or Kindle ePUB. The Happiness Project I really loved this book!! At first I was skeptical because Im not a fan of self-help books or most non-fiction, but Rubins writing style was so approachable. It read more like a novel and it wasnt really a self-help book at all, although I do feel like it has and will continue to help me be better. In many ways, I related to Rubin and Im sure that helped with my enjoyment. I want to go back and read it again already and start figuring out some of my own resolutions!. full of wonderful ideas

DESCRIPTION:

Defying self-help expectations, however, Rubin writes with keen senses of self and narrative, balancing the personal and the universal with a light touch. By December, she's striving bemusedly to keep increasing happiness in every aspect of her life. Thus, her methodical (and bizarre) happiness project: spend one year achieving careful, measurable goals in different areas of life (marriage, work, parenting, self-fulfillment) and build on them cumulatively, using concrete steps (such as, in January, going to bed earlier, exercising better, getting organized, and "acting more energetic"). Rubin is not an unhappy woman: she has a loving husband, two great kids and a writing career in New Yor

I really loved this book!! At first I was skeptical because I'm not a fan of self-help books or most non-fiction, but Rubin's writing style was so approachable. It read more like a novel and it wasn't really a self-help book at all, although I do feel like it has and will continue to help me be better. In many ways, I related to Rubin and I'm sure that helped with my enjoyment. I want to go back and read it again already and start figuring out some of my own resolutions!. full of wonderful ideas and research The Happiness project reads like a personal development book, a journal and a blog all at once. At the same time it is full of excellent research and references. It is easy to read and inspiring. I can't wait to get started on my Happiness Project.Con- The author is a highly educated, highly successful, upper middle class, urban dwelling white American female, who does not seem to have a very complicated/challenging upbringing, marriage, or other obviously serious life challenges, so for s. "Second Read" according to Linda. This is my second time to read and consider Gretchen Rubin's purposeful efforts to generate more happiness in her life! I can so relate to many of the strategies she uses! I'm eager to check out her resources included on her website and thoroughly enjoy her podcast! I will continue to share this book with others!

Rubin didn't have the option to uproot herself, nor did she really want to; instead she focused on improving her life as it was. Written and read with charm and wit, The Happiness Project is illuminating yet entertaining, thought-provoking yet compulsively readable. In this episode, "Choose the Bigger Life," Gretchen and her sister, Elizabeth Craft, discuss happiness, good habits, and whether Gretchen is going to get a dog.. She immersed herself in principles set forth by all manner of experts--from Epicurus to Thoreau to Oprah to Martin Seligman to the Dalai Lama--to see what worked for her and what didn't. Gretchen Rubin had an epiphany one rainy afternoon in the unlikeliest of places: a city bus. Her conclusions are sometimes surprising: she finds that money can buy happiness, when spent wisely; that novelty and challenge are powerful sources of happiness; that "treating" yourself can make you feel worse; that venting bad feelings doesn't relieve them; that the very smallest of changes can make the biggest difference--and they range from the practical to the profound. With humor
