Great book, very poorly bound Cara English Book binding fell apart day one. Excellent content; very poorly made. Bought early for my son's birthday and we are past the return window. Would otherwise have been a great book.. "Great source for ideas!" according to cyndia. Love the ideas in this book! I think I can utilize them in other crafts. Well written and photographed !. Two Stars Expected a little more from this book. Purchased for my wife but thumbing through it, I was unimpressed.
If you take that Victorian Mad-Scientist Adventurer look (clockwork gears, brassy bits, and even some lacey filigree) and apply that to polymer clay creativity, you've got 'STEAMPUNKERY'!This book combines sculpting tricks (like making a miniature leather strap complete with wire buckle and tiny little fake stitching) with vintage embellishments (like watch parts), found objects (like old pen nibs), and stuff you've got in your craft stash (like beads and paper scraps).There is a lot to enjoy in this book—a hinged heart pendant that opens to reveal it's inner workings, cute little steampunk critters (complete with goggles of course) and other fun stuff—focal beads, sculptures, wall pieces, even things you can add to costumes, if you're into that sort of thing.Challenging, but not stressful, structured without being confining, it doesn't matter what your skill level is, all the projects are step-by-step with lots of pictures and explanations (and some silliness to keep things interesting).Plus there are lots of hints and creative nudgings to help get your imagination gears turning!
