DESCRIPTION:

The Hundred Worlds have withstood invasion by the relentless Hok for decades. Their economies are geared for military output, and they raise specialized soldiers to save our species. With Lieutenant Carla Engels piloting, Starship Liberator explores enemy territory in search of answers.. Genetically sculpted to drive a mech-suit as if he wears a second skin, he must find a path to victory. The long war has transformed the Hundred Worlds into heavily fortified star systems. The human worlds are strong, but the Hok have the resources of a thousand planets behind them, and their fleets attack in endless waves. Assault Captain Derek Straker is one such man among many. It's a battle in which he'll never admit defeat, but not even Straker knows the dark truth behind this titanic struggle

I have to admit, I used my Kindle dictionary many times while reading this because I am not very well versed in military terms. The attention to detail in this book was astounding, though it was not overdone. I appreciated having the space vehicles and the physics of maneuvering in space well laid out, very satisfying. What appeared to be solid science (a must have for sci-fi for me) could . Charles F. Kartman said Pleasingly familiar parts. I will read anything by B.V. Larson, so picked this up without hesitation despite being unfamiliar with the work of Mr. VanDyke. For all I know, Mr. Larson left much of the writing to his co-author, but it sure reads like one of his books -- a good thing! There really is nothing new in "Starship Liberator", perhaps apart from something called "underspace", but it all comes together in a most pleasing fashion.MINOR SPOILER FOLLOW
