DESCRIPTION:
Penrose discusses the strategies that must be applied to your business to take advantage of this last frontier in business improvement. Proper management of physical assets remains as the single largest business improvement opportunity in the 21st Century. Determine where you stand by asking yourself this one question: The next time you get on that elevator or airplane, what if they are maintaining it the same way you maintain your facilities and production equipment; would you want to ride?. Dr. Census Bureau, an 1979 maintenance study performed by MIT and recent reliability and maintenance studies, the size of the asset maintenance industry in the USA was $1.2 trillion in 2005, in which $750 billion was the direct cost of poor ph
Great information and entertaining at the same time This book provided ideas and concepts that were easy to understand and implement. It is a book that you must read. It will help iron out the sometimes stressful communication between the executive and the people who implement the realiability solutions in the plant, shop floor, building or whatever your situation. Dr. Penrose also uses real situations (which he makes very entertaining) to show you how to apply and find solutions for you. This is a great price!I also just recently purchased Dr. Penrose's other book which I consider the "Bible" of Electric Motor Diagnostics! Electrical Motor Diagnostics, 2nd Edition is OUTSTANDING and written. Don't waste your time!!! Joseph Park Was hoping for a text that would provide executive management a concise explanation of asset reliability, it's value to an organization, and their role in leading improvement. This book is just a patch work quilt of blah blah that could have been compiled from any of a thousand texts. Here's the recipe. Start with a generous portion of the tired old airlines stories and other disaster case studies, add a sprinkling of predictive maintenance, then toss in the failure curve graphs, some elementary reliability prediction equations, and a little MTBF and MTTR for good measure. Still looking for the book for executive management.
