DESCRIPTION:

As her husband, Roarke, tries to rescue her from the nightmares that claw at her mind, and her partner, Peabody, doggedly works to support her, Eve must confront - and call upon - the darkest parts of her own soul in order to survive.. But he's not behind bars anymore. A monster named Isaac McQueen had been abducting young victims and leaving them scarred in both mind and body. Thanks to Eve, he wound up where he belonged, removed from civilized society in Rikers. Commanding Eve's attention with a chilling and brazen crime, McQueen sets off the chase - forcing Eve down a road marked with blood and tears, a road that eventually leads southwest to Dallas, Texas, the home Eve fled long ago. His other goal: to get revenge on the woman who stopped him all those years ago, now a high-profile lieutenant in the NYPSD and married to one of the city's richest men. And each new twist brings her closer to the harrowing memory of when she wasn't a hardened detective but a vulnerable girl just like McQueen's innocent prey. After his escape, McQueen has two things in mind. It was one of Eve Dallas's earliest takedowns, back in her uniform days. One is to take up where he left off, preying on the young and innocent - when necessary, with the help of a female partner all too willing to be manipulated and to aid and abet his crimes

5 Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies! Lily In the mid-twenty-first century, NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas is facing possibly her worst nemesis yet: paperwork. Just as Eve finds herself wishing for a murder that would spring her from paperwork hell, something worse comes along.Isaac McQueen - a violent pedophile Eve took down not long after she became a police officer - has escaped prison. McQueen seems more than eager to get back to raping and torturing young girls, but he's added an additional target to his list: Eve. McQueen's sick cat-and-mouse game will take Eve and her husband Roarke from. Jeannie said Phenomenal read!. Fantastic book (well - I listened to the amazing Susan Erickson but that counts)! In the back of my mind there were unanswered questions about Dallas that I figured would be explained eventually, and this book did it in a major way! I think the departure from the "In Death" titles was deliberate- as this way a major turning point for Eve, and the title is very apt. I very much enjoyed this one, and I expect we'll see some changes in the upcoming books as I expect the character will continue to grow and incorporate some changes in her life. And what . A Series Review! {NO Spoilers} A Series Review! {NO Spoilers} Larissa 4.5 stars! After basically years of seeing this series around and reading about this mystical Roarke, I gave in and decided to read the In Death Books. It was quite an undertaking, since when I started there were 33 books already released in the series, not counting short stories and novellas. Besides that, deciding to read this series was a big commitment in two fronts. One, I simply had to by 33 books and secondly, I would not be reading anything else until I was done. That's how psychotic I can be when it comes to book series.December 2011 was whe. .5 stars! After basically years of seeing this series around and reading about this mystical Roarke, I gave in and decided to read the In Death Books.
