There are roughly three hundred pages in this large book filled with both black and white and color photos that capture this city that so many of us love from a distance and certainly even more so when we visit. I first became aware of Mr. Nicoletta’s work when I saw his most famous image, that of Harvey Milk with that great smile and necktie flapping, in a photo exhibit in a gay bar here in Atlanta—it had . While I was lucky enough to witness some of this, I wish I had moved to SF at 18 myself to work alongside Dan at the Castro Camera Shop. This opus showing us so much of the crescendo of the Queer Rights movement explodes on each page in marvelous detail and with loving tenderness.
