One of the things I realized right away was to clear your mind before your first brush stroke cuz' what you see is what your gonna get :). Perfect Library Copy! Liz Alexander Product came in a timely manner, and was perfect! I ended up purchasing a de-commissioned library hard-back copy that has been VERY well taken care of. Lovely book I have not yet started to paint using this book. I became interested in Japanese brush painting after an evening demo and workshop at our local art association (in Massachusetts) by a woman who has been doing this for about 9 years. In reading the beginning of the book and skimming through it to see exercises, I am excited to begin. The author has a thoughtful philosophy which I hope to learn and benefit from as a realistic Western watercolor painter.
