Recommended by our Italian Teacher Mom Cat As an American, there are a few pronunciations that were a little bit different (given that the author is English), but aside from that, this book is great. We're studying up for a trip to Italy as a family (10, 13, 50, 54) and this is the perfect book for us. It even has a CD that has the lessons on it. Basic phrases, basic conversations, number, pronunciations, etc.. No CD included I purchased this book for an Italian class at the local senior center. The instructor said the book should include a CD which provides pronunciation and practice help. However when my book arrived, there was no CD. Also, I ordered it from a domestic provider and expected it to be shipped within a few days, but it took more than a week to arrive. In the book itself, the lessons are arranged in a somewhat scattered and disorganized fashion. And some important basic words have been omitted requiring many queries to the instructor. On the plus side the practice exercises are challenging and fun, somewhat like word puzzles.. Lisa said Italy here I come. For a quick, easy way to begin learning Italian start here.
