DESCRIPTION:

Entertaining! While this book was written for a younger YA audience, I picked it up just because of the talk about its content and for its being a prequel to a Disney movie. I was very intrigued to see this particular take on Disney villains and their teenage kids. The plot isn't very complex at all, but makes sense in the world these characters come from; and I loved getting to know all the villain kids. They are all spinning images of their parents! It was a fun read, although I found some scenes very cheesy and unbeli. "Interesting Idea" according to Tabitha. A few minor complaints to get out of the way: In 101 Dalmatians, there was 99 puppies and 2 adult dogs, not 101 puppies (In the movie versions, in the book which I highly recommend there were actually more adult dogs). Also, there was some inconsistencies with what the country King Beast founded was called - sometimes it was referred to as the United Kingdoms of Auradon, others the United States of Auradon. Finally, they're trying to be more modern in the way they approach things (no magic), yet the 16-yea. "Interesting Backstory for "Descendants"" according to Danielle N. Hart. To be honest, I'd prefer to go Interesting Backstory for "Descendants" To be honest, I'd prefer to go 3.5 on this one.I liked that it filled in some of the HUGE GAPING HOLES in the plot of the movie. Not that I didn't enjoy the movie, but it wasn't heavy on logic. Getting a better feel for the life on the Isle of the Lost was good. However, I found some of the decisions made to be just as bizarre as they are in the movie.Disclaimer: I am not actually part of the target audience for the book, but I am a parent of one who reads quite a bit of their stuff. In that respect, I tho. .5 on this one.I liked that it filled in some of the HUGE GAPING HOLES in the plot of the movie. Not that I didn't enjoy the movie, but it wasn't heavy on logic. Maleficent, Mistress of the Dark: Ruler of the Isle. The island is surrounded by a magical force field that keeps the villains and their descendants safely locked up and away from the mainland. Life on the island is dark and dreary. Jay is a thief, a con man, a handsome, quick-witted boy with charm to spare whose lies are as beautiful and silvery as his eyes. Evie: daughter of the Evil Queen. Her subjects don't know how to do anything without their powers, so they fix clothes with safety pins instead of needle and thread; they don't know how to use brooms to sweep if they can't fly them, and their crystal balls are good only as goldfish bowls these days. Handsome, puckish, sexy, and mischievous, with long, dark hair in a bandanna and a great tan. Mal: 16-year-old Mal is the most popular and talented student at Dragon Hall; her mother is the great Maleficent, Mistress of Darkness, the most powerful and wicked fairy in the world, and there is nothing Mal desires more in the world than to be just like her mother. Deathly afraid of dogs.. Evie's lush, dark hair falls from her forehead in a striking widow's peak, and she never leaves home without her crown. She has been castle-schooled for years, and this is her first year at Dragon Hall. Jay: son of Jafar. Jumpy, anxious little kid but with the true skills of a tech prodigy. Carlos: son of Cruella. It is a dirty, decrepit place left to rot and forgotten by the world. He's been working feverishly on a project that wo
