DESCRIPTION:

Benjamin Carter Mason died last night. Today, Mason's starting a new life. For Grunts.. This is a time for heroes. The human race is a heartbeat away from extinction. He's back in boot camp, training for the only war left that matters a damn. Maybe he threw himself off a bridge into Los Angeles Harbor, or maybe he burned to death in a house fire in San Pedro; it doesn't really matter. That is unless Mason and the other men and women of Task Force OMBRA can do anything about it. Our governments knew, but they did nothing - the prospect was too awful, the costs too high - and now the horrifying and utterly inhuman Cray are laying waste to our cities. For killers. For years their spies have been coming to Earth, learning our weaknesses

I ordered this book based off my experience reading Mr. Ochse's "Seal Team 666" novels and when it arrived I promptly began reading it (didn't even look to see what it was about). This book was a great treat! The intro immediately made me wonder what was going on, and as the story progressed I became engrossed in trying to figure out even more so what was going on (just like the characters in the story). As the truth was revealed bit by bit, my eyes were opened to some pretty scary tie-ins to real life. I think that's what I really liked about this book Just about everything I read was solidly tied to current-day technology and what. William M Miller said Intense Alien Action With Great Characters. This is the first book in an alien invasion trilogy told from basically a military perspective. Author Weston Ochse clearly knows his weapons, military jargon, and tactics, which gives the narrative an authenticity, immersing you in the world of the characters. And the characters, here, are one of the main reasons to read this. Flawed, distinctive, and never one dimensional, I got the sense Ochse drew pieces of each person in the story from his own actual life experiences. The book moves at a fast pace with constant danger around nearly every corner. Scenes are always building to the next challenge and not everyone makes it out aliv. Nick Cato said Satisfying Military SciFi. I've been on a military SciFi kick the past few years, and Weston Ochse's GRUNTS satisfied that hunger quite well. This time a secret organization collects suicidal war veterans and turns them into soldiers for a coming alien invasion they somehow know about. The author's military background (as in his SEAL TEAM 666 series) once again shines here as we get to know several kick ass soldiers who begin to understand they may be the world's only hope for survival. But the "Cray" are what make this one so addictive. They're an alien race sent here to inflict even more damage after most of the world's cities are destroyed. If you like alien
