Is this an earlier Garwood piece or what happened? I could barely finish this book, the characters were all over the place and the pacing was off. As a fan of Garwood's highland series, I had a hard time believing this came from the same author of so many of my long-time favorites! I honestly go back to re-read many of her works time and again, but this one was a struggle to even finish. The heroine is a strange mix of foolish, brave, naive, and spoiled. One second she's a hawk trainer with two. Like most Julie Garwood fans Like most Julie Garwood fans, I have read all her books. I re-read this one and I have to say this is not my favorite one. This book is okbut if you have never red anything by this author, this is not the book to start off with in getting to know her. The book was slow in places.It was not one of those books that you start and just feel you cannot put it down and for that reason it took me a few days to finish it. I kepthoping it would pick up . Gentle Warrior I love most of Julie Garwood's historical romances. I have not read her modern day ones. This is one of my favorites, along with the Prize, Saving Grace, and The Bride.
