DESCRIPTION:
To test his conclusion, he decides he must know the past and goes in search of legendary Earth, all references to which have been erased from galactic libraries. The fifth novel in Asimov's popular Foundation series opens with second thoughts. The societies encountered along the way become arguing points in a book-long colloquy about man's fate, conducted by Trevize and traveling companion Bliss, who is part of the first world/mind, Gaia.. Councilman Golan Trevize is wondering if he was right to choose a collective mind as the best possible future for humanity over the anarchy of contentious individuals, nations and planets
Kindle edition is a watered down disaster J. Callen This review is specifically of the Kindle edition, published by Ballantine/Bantam.The Foundation Trilogy is a wonderful piece of work, but the Kindle edition butchers it! Someone has decided to water down Asimov's prose, eliminating some of the more enjoyable passages of the book. Here are some examples, found by comparison with an old Bantam Doubleday hardcover edition.Several pages into chapter 3, Salvor Hardin is arguing with the Encyclopedists about the decline of the Empire.Original: "If you ask me,", he cried, "THE GALAXY IS GOING TO POT!"Kindle: "If you. "Really pretty book." according to Nathan Erickson. The three books are great, a little unusual at first but that's just Asimov's writing style, it'll normalize after the first chapter and you'll find yourself burning through the content. The book's hardware is great! The hard purple cover, with the lovely sci-fi circuitry artwork, with the painting in the middle, it all looks great. The little bookmark ribbon that's included was a happy surprise, I really appreciated that. The golden edge on the pages makes it feel like a holy book, lol.The only odd part? There are two smooth bumps near the top and bottom on th. A quick read, but deep in every aspect. For a long time I chose not to read The Foundation novels because I imagined they would be too detailed and hard-core science fiction for me to enjoy, but I was wrong. This book is a quick read, but it is not a children's book. Asimov traversed the future in leaps of time and kept sense of it all while introducing new characters and stories with each leap, all the while melding the past with the future. To do this with such little detail yet powerful imagery is what kept me wanting more. The story never has a dull moment (there really was no room in such a short
