A Must Read For All Children My son's school is using this book for a program they are doing called "One Book, One School" where all the kids in every grade (5th - 8th), all the staff, all the teachers will be reading this together. They will do activities corresponding to what they are reading, discuss the book, really dive into it. I bought 2 copies of the book. 1 for my son so he will have his own copy and doesn't have to borrow from the school (the school does not have enough for all the children, so they will not be permitted to take the books home), and 1 for me so that I can read along with him and continue the discussion at home. I think thi. "He and I both loved it. The writing is simple" according to get it. I read this book to my son who has learning differences. He and I both loved it. The writing is simple, relatable and very empathic. If you or your kid have ever felt like a fish out of water, different or not sure why you don't fit in, then this book is perfect. Ally, the main character and two best friends are brilliant and cool and different. They are strong and brave and most of all, united through by a deep and committed friendship. The teacher who helps Ally discover her dyslexia, is the other hero here. He is patient and kind and best of all, has a plan to help Ally accept that her difference isn't something to be. Gerald A.
