DESCRIPTION:

Based upon the author’s own successful workshops, Drawing for the Absolute and Utter Beginner helps new artists create competent, often eloquent drawings. Inspirational examples and tips for success from beginning students who have worked on the same material confirm readers’ successes, and allow readers to consider the advice and impressions of others at the same level.. A series of progressive lessons demonstrates such essential skills as recording edges, creating dimension, adding accuracy, developing value, balancing compositional elements, and drawing the human face, both frontal and profile views. Step by step, readers learn how to create a reasonable likeness of an object and give it spatial depth using such simple black-and-white mediums as pens, pencils, charcoal, and graphite wash

Perfect for going from beginner to self teaching. Lynny This book starts from the beginning and leaves out the confusing jargon and filler text I've seen in other art books. The author begins teaching with contour lines, just getting your pencil on the paper and letting you learn to see as an artist. It progressively builds upon each lesson, teaching you to add accuracy and detail, more and more the further you go in.The book is apparently based on a class Claire Garcia teaches, and it does a fantastic job teaching even . Not for a beginner Junie Working through this book everyday. It is not for the absolute and utter beginner. It is more advanced. I'm a beginner and I feel that knowledge of some of the concepts are brushed over. i need something very very basic. However, I am working through the book.. "Love this book" according to Melena Mayson. Love this book! Its like my personal bible journal. Its a great introduction of what to expect , what you will learn, and what you will need to start review. Yes highly recommend it! :)
