Destiny Disrupted is a must book for all of us who value our American Culture and what to understand why we as a people and country are embroiled in conflicts in the middle east Why, because this is one of the few books that helps the reader understand the political, social, cultural, militaristic forces at work since 9-11-01. However, these forces did not just pop up because of an act of terrorism but as the author points out there are two worlds, European/Christian and Arab/ Islam hav. hawaii user said I was surprised at the honesty of the author.. I was surprised at the honesty of the author. I expected it to be a rah rah book about Islam and it wasn't. Instead it was about people who a convoluted history with a totally different world view than those of us educated in the west.. this is an excellent journey beyond the Ottoman Empire and a fantastic perspective Rachael Having previously read the Ottoman Centries by Lord Kinross I would not have found this work of historical art had it not been for a random exchange of conversation on a recent train ride from NYC! I wish to thank the lovely conversationalist from France sitting next to me, as his recommendation has further expanded my understanding of Islam this is an excellent journey beyond the Ottoman Empire and a fantastic perspective for any world traveler!
