Crazy quilting is a type of patchwork that includes embellishments on the seams, patches, and borders. The best known in the Crazy Quilt area would be Silk Ribbon Embroidery. This embellishment always includes embroidery and often includes other elements. However, this book goes beyond the standard Victorian style clusters of flowers and instructs on using ribbon to create miniature gardens, samplers of floral stitches, several types of monograms in ribbon, seams that can include ribbon components, stitching over fabric images with ribbon, and creating ladies with beautiful ribbon skirts on their dresses
Excellent review of ribbon work for crazy quilters I had Beyond the Basics, but her other two books are superb! Really cover the actual creation of a crazy quilt. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in crazy quilting.. I loved the book thelma bonfiglio-lucas I loved the book, I have vol. 1 also which has material from Kathy Shaws online class. she is featured in Kitty me Designs. the book is the next level of Crazy quilting a real learning manual.. "Not what I excepted" according to Loretta kaminski. Did not like the book at all
