This may be Kirstens best book yet Myles Reiff I must confess that I am a bit of a Tikiphile and I owe a lot of what I know to Sven's other works (The Book of Tiki and Tiki Modern), much like the reviewer above I was a little hesitant about Tiki Pop. While the multilingual text is minimal, the book delivers on the major selling pointthe imagery. It traces the American Polynesian craze through the last century from its authentic origins to its campy offspring. Full of vintage photos, ads, menus, etc., it conveys the breadth of tiki culture wit. The photos are eye candy for the soul and the words are enlightening thoughts for the mind Matthew B. . About the Author Sven Kirsten was conceived on a freighter of his grandfather's Hamburg-Chicago Line. Following the call of the big world, he moved to California at the age of 25. Kirsten studied at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles and began shooting music videos in the late 1980s for The Cramps, Tom Waits, Sergio Mendes and others.
