Mark Matthews said Unforgettable. Powerful.. There's an adage, I am pretty sure I heard it from Jack Ketchum first, that a writer should "never be afraid to go there." Well, when I read Nicole's work (we are not on a first name basis, but, seems to fit for some reason) she is never be afraid to go there since she's already there, and comfortable being there, and does it with confidence. "Sweet suffering" according to Donald C Brawley. Unflinchingly answers the age-old question of why there is suffering if god is in control. Why do innocent kids struggle with deformity? How is it that good people end up in agony? Getting to that answer is a visceral ride of sex and pain that doesn't let up. Disturbing in a way that makes you think, not just getting grossed out.. "A Glorious Trip to Hell" according to Tess. This story is extremely well-written and edited, which is in itself is a treat. There is a slow built of characterization that is achieved through alternating points of view, which I think is very effective.
