This book is not for the casual reader, but for the interested reader it is well written as a work of considerable scholarship. Paul Sparks has a doctorate in mandolin, and that says it all. As a fellow doctorate in another discipline, I can appreciate the extensive garnering of materials which remain scattered abroad.
