DESCRIPTION:
The Best Horror of the Year chronicles these shifting shadows. For more than three decades, Ellen Datlow has been at the center of horror. But this light creates its own shadows. With each passing year, science, technology, and the march of time shine light into the craggy corners of the universe, making the fears of an earlier generation seem quaint. It is a catalog of terror, fear, and unpleasantness as articulated by today's most challenging and exciting writers.. Bringing you the most frightening and terrifying stories, Datlow always has her finger on the pulse of what horror fans crave. Now, with the ninth volume of the series, Datlow is back again to bring you the stories that will keep you up at night
Mostly Disappointing Adam Berger Brian Hodge's two stories are by far the collection's best. I can't say that any of the other stories really captured my attention or scared me. They weren't poorly written or anything, they were just bland and uninspired. The last story, on the other hand (On These Blackened Shores of Time) is a winner. One of the best Lovecraftian-inspired stories I've read in the past five years.
