Well Worth the MoneyEspecially for a Beginner The rating of books like this probably varies according to the skill level of the reader. Being somewhere between beginner and intermediary, I found this book very helpful. It covers rather well, I'd say, the taunting topics of the photographer's triangle (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO) and lighting. It also does a good job of dealing with composition, background, and capturing the personality of the subject, which most beginners don't even THINK about.You'll be introduced to the rule of "thirds," if you're not already aware of it. This rule alone can make a world of difference in your photos! But do bear in mind th. "Wonderful for amatuers" according to Nicolle Jones. This book is wonderful. I am by no means a professional photographer, I did take a photography class in high school and have always enjoyed photography and taking pictures. After having children, I wanted to improve my skills. I bought a new SLR camera to improve the quality of my pictures. This book has helped me understand a lot of the functions of my camera, what differnt setting to use to get the look that I want out of a pictures. It has great assignments at the end of each chapter to help comfirm what you have read. I have run around the house after my kids using the techniques I learned in this book. While I sti. M. It is so well written and organized. I am a mom of six and love taking pictures of my kids. I'm trying to learn more to be able to take really good pictures. This book was so straight-forward. The pictures are REAL - not the strange art-studio type pictures that seem so popular now. I really appreciate that the information is shown for each picture.
